During the event, held in the Catalinas Park Hotel in San Miguel de Tucuman, ALEA also confirmed that it will participate in both Argentinean trade shows: SAGSE and MAGIA.
ALEA’s President, Roberto Armando López; the members of the Council and Legal Representatives of the 24 jurisdictions of the whole national territory, gathered and debated on the different issues related to the sector.
The issues to debate were the academia participation in the Association in different events of the sector, SAGSE and MAGIA., Internet games of chance and the contribution of ALEA in the Congress, as well as “WORLD MEET 2009” trade event, organized by the World Lottery Association, WLA.
Besides, they informed that Argentina, through ALEA, will be the venue in which it will be held the third and last part of the Seminar on “Process Management, Evaluation Model,” organized by the Latin American Corporation of State Lotteries and Bets, CIBELAE, during May 19-21.
During the second day in Tucuman, the participants assisted to the series of conferences where Juan Manuel Álvarez Echagüe talked about the “Intention to charge a publicity and advertising fee in different councils in the country”; Estela Varsavsky explained the scope of the "New technologies in games of chance in the county” and Authorities of the Bank for Social Assistance, spoke about the “New institutional and corporate image of the Lottery of Santa Fe ".
Talking about the exhibitions of the sector, López said: “Knowing that the private sector needs us, we have encouraged the participation of state entities in all the events organized by the private sector, considering that the state in Argentina regulates the games of chance activity, and we have decided to support all these initiatives and transmit the principles we defend, supporting the training activities, in case it is required.”
Besides, considering the improvement in gaming technology, Roberto López commented: “We hired a research on New Technologies applied to Games of Chance,” which gave us data of key importance with regards to technologies currently available both in Argentina and worldwide, as well as the description of the local scenario and alternative proposals on organization, operation and control, which has been very important, in particular because this involves many actors and the solution of emerging situation of the bets through the Internet space, does not depend on the creation of a national law, but on the achievement of a proper and homogeneous market frame which respects the local prerogatives in police power, working with all the actors of the system, trying to treat the issue with key responsibility, due to the complexity it has.”
ALEA gathers the 24 legal representatives of loteries and gaming institutes in the country and has the aim to defend and sustain the principles established in the National Constitution and, in consequence, the right of the nation and the provinces to have the police power and rule the games of chance operation in the country.
