Russian Poker Tour begins

(Russia).- The second stop of the PokerStars Russian Poker Tour will take place in Moscow at the Hotel Renaissance through May 16.

The us$ 7,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event begins today at 3 p.m. local time. This event is a sport poker series cup of Russia event, and it will last three days.

The final table will crown a champion on Saturday, May 16. This event was originally scheduled to take place from February 22-28, but the schedule was adjusted to have this event take place before the World Series of Poker in May.

The first RPT stop took place in St. Petersburg at the end of January 2009. The us$ 5,000 main event attracted 201 players, who created a prize pool worth us$ 1,005,000. Oleg Sountsov from St. Petersburg took home the title and gold medal for the win. Runner-up Vadim Markoushevskij was awarded the silver medal, and third-place finisher Alex Pantiukhin took home the bronze medal.

These final-tablists will join Team PokerStars pros Alexander Kravchenko and Ivan Demidov from Russia, and Vanessa Rousso and Chad Brown from the U.S. in the tournament field in Moscow.
