"MEI today has an excellent position in the Caribbean market"

Which are the products that the firm decided to show this year for the Caribbean public and which is the position that the firm has in the local market?

In the Caribbean, we operate through a Puerto Rican company that represents us, and we have most of the Puerto Rican market. In Aruba we also have a good market share. We presented our MEI Cash Flow SC66, which we showcased in the event.

Which has been the feedback of the public and what is the parameter you can have to test the performance of the show?

Our products have a main characteristic: people does not know what are they for, or knows it a lot and like it very much. It is not an attractive product; it is not as a slot machine, and it generates interest from executives dedicated to the technical area. However, we did not come here to do great business; we are basically to remark our presence in the event, because we already have a good local market.

With regards to the operators that you could see in the event, were they local public, from the rest of the Caribbean or from Venezuela?

Visits here were only from local casinos, although there were some visitors from Venezuela, but no one came from other places. I think the exhibition was good, because I was present in the first FADJA and there were three companies, more or less, I was in the first SAGSE in Sheraton Hotel in Buenos Aires and was very small, too… so AGS, as a first event, is bigger than the two great events existing today. If it goes on, this event may grow a lot, I think there is space to grow, but special markets have to be promoted better, such as Puerto Rico, Saint Marteen, Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador and specially Venezuela, which is a very important market. It has been very important in the 90s, and now it is closed due to many reasons, but its closeness make it a very strong potential market for this event.

In what other events will you be present during the current year?

MEI, as a market leader, is in all the regional exhibitions. We will be present in SAGSE Buenos Aires with our distributor Permaquim. We will exhibit in SAGSE Panama, in FADJA in April with the new local distributor, we will assist to the Peruvian event, and to the two Mexican exhibitions but just as visitors, because Mexico still has some legal issues and it is not allowed to use bill acceptors, so we will be only watching.
