The inspection covered more than 1,500 slot machines and electronic roulette games in casinos in Chajarí, Paraná and Victoria in Argentinian Entre Ríos province. With the inspection, the IAFAS became the first gaming regulatory entity in South America to perform a direct control on site of this nature. GLI also became the world’s first test lab to conduct or assist in such an inspection in the region.

The inspection duties were established through an agreement executed last year by the Directory of the IAFAS and the Laboratorio de Investigación en Nuevas Tecnologías Informáticas (LINTI) de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata, the branch of GLI in South America. This agreement was sanctioned by the Governor of Entre Rios, Sergio Daniel Urribarri.

IAFAS General Manager Silvio Vivas said, “The objective of the inspection was to gain better control and to modernize the gaming industry in the Province, and to give more confidence to the operators and the patrons. We are grateful to GLI South America and GLI Headquarters for the assistance they provided in this important step in establishing an even higher level of confidence, and we look forward to the execution of the joint projects already scheduled.”

GLI South America Director Javier Díaz said, “This is an incredible step forward for GLI, IAFAS, Argentina and the entire region. We are honored with the trust that IAFAS has shown for GLI, and we are very pleased with the way our teams worked together to reach this milestone.”

The inspections were performed on more than 1,500 gaming machines. Each device was opened, its mother board identified, and electronic signature was verified. Information was then sent to GLI’s world headquarters in New Jersey for verification.

Regulators will use technical information gathered in the inspection process to further establish technical standards for gaming devices, thus helping to modernize the gaming industry in the region and to implement policies, guarantee the industry integrity and to assist in tax collection.
