Tabcorp’s Managing Director of Wagering Robert Nason said the introduction of French racing was important to the Australian racing industry as it gave Australian race clubs the opportunity for their races to be broadcast in France in return. Premier Victorian trotting events have already been exported to France.

UK and South African racing will support the French meetings, taking Sky Channel’s coverage of South African racing to five days per week and UK racing to four days per week. French racing become part of Tabcorp’s portfolio of regular international racing, alongside Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, New Zealand, Japan and the UK.

The first meetings being broadcast will be a trotting meeting from Vincennes, Paris and a steeple/hurdle meeting from Pau in France’s south-west. Programming will remain within the current 2am finish, which will result in approximately five races being wagered on from each French meeting every Tuesday night.

Tabcorp’s Managing Director of Wagering Robert Nason said French racing added diversity to the mix of racing being offered by Tabcorp. “International racing continues to grow in popularity among our customers and we are delighted to be adding French racing to our weekly schedule,” Nason said.

“Racing continues to become more global and Tabcorp is at the forefront of ensuring Australian racing is relevant in the international racing community. Tabcorp is also providing another first with the regular import of harness racing from a world class trotting circuit. This brings benefits to harness racing fans and the harness racing industry.”

Tabcorp markets and exports Australian racing on behalf of Australian race clubs. In the last financial year, Australian race clubs received us$ 5.3 million from this arrangement as a result of overseas betting operators wagering on their events.
