GPI’s RFID technology displays its full range of products at IGE

Tens of casinos in Europe, the USA and Asia are predominantly using the technology to protect their chips assets against counterfeiting and pilferage. Holland Casino has RFID in all its 14 casinos in the Netherlands, Stanley Casinos from UK protect their highest denominations while MonteCasino in South Africa recently installed 82 Table Top Authenticators to verify the incoming chips at the very first entry point in the casino: the tables.

In Las Vegas, Planet Hollywood and the recently-opened Wynn Encore are just two of the numerous US casinos using RFID chips along the likes of MGM Grand Detroit or Four Winds. Wynn Macau and Crown Macau invested massively over the last few years in the RFID technology while Taipa Square boutique-style casino in Macau and the successful Kingsroman operation in Lao opted for the ECS gates to prevent staff pilferage in addition to their cage readers.

Tracking chips and improving chips inventory are just other benefits some casinos quickly realized with the implementation of GPI’s RFID solutions. One of the most full-fledged RFID site in operation is located in Manchester, UK. Since May 2008, a total of 11 server-based, RFID-enabled tables as well as cage and chip bank readers allow for automatic chips inventories.

RFID table float trays are read on a continuous basis to provide exact inventory, calculate rolling floats, track fills and credits transactions, give win/loss ratio in real time with comprehensive reporting. Both the casino staff and management are very enthusiastic about the system. As a result of its daily use, manual inventory has been halved while 25% less personnel is required to open the tables. A special feature has been added to the operating software developed by GPI to signal any loss over £1,000 during a specific period of time.
