The tenth project inaugurated of the new casino industry involves an investment of us$ 54 million and the creation of 437 permanent jobs; it will have 580 slots, 36 gambling tables and 352 bingo seats, as well as a bar and a restaurant. Casino de Juegos Temuco will operate Sundays to Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 5 a.m., and Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m.
Superintendent Leiva commented that “Temuco Casinos complies with the regulation set by SCJ so the new casinos apply in Chile the technical and transparency standards from developed countries”.
He added that: “On top of the fact that the gaming material was authorized by SCJ, it was also controlled that all the gaming machines were new, with instructions is Spanish, and that all of them guarantee their customers a percentage of the prize expected for the player, no less than 85% of the total of the possible gaming combinations”.
The 20% of the gross income of gambling that new casinos must pay –a tax specific to gambling activities- must just be invested in developments to benefit the community. Until March 4, 2009, Temuco Casino will continue with the construction of the rest of the project, comprised by a five-star hotel, a business center; a spa, gymnasium and heated swimming pool, restaurants, an exhibition hall, handicraft stores, etc-
Of the 18 new casinos that comprise the new authorized industry in Chile, the project that is being built in Valdivia is in the verification stage, and venues in Antofagasta, Copiapó, Santa Cruz, Mostazal, Talca, Pinto (Termas de Chillán), Talcahuano, Los Ángeles, Temuco and Osorno are operating. Besides, the venues that are being built are Calama, Ovalle, San Antonio, Rinconada, Castro, Coyhaique and Punta Arenas.
