Towers of offices and top hotels in Punta del Este, Uruguay; in San Isidro in Lima, Peru; in Buenos Aires, Argentina and also in Santiago, where even Donald Trump has thought in the option to add a casino, now will have to be delayed as a consequence of the global economic crisis.
It was ratified by the director of Kayco International Group –a firm that advices on the arrival of Trump to South America-, Marcos Kaplún, who pointed that "the projects of the Trump family in Chile and in the region –excepto the south of Brazil in Santa Caterina- have been postponed, I think, until the second semester of 2009. The crisis has restricted all the sectors and the most important thing is that none of the initiatives have been cancelled. The only thing is that deadlines have been changed.”
Kaplún comments the situation and tells a fact that happened to him in Argentina with regards to Trump projects for that country. "I was in Buenos Aires last September 8th, before the crisis started, and we talked to a Private Pension Funds System (AFJP in Argentina) related to a Spanish bank, and said that they were going to invest us$ 70 million for Trump project in Puerto Madero. Then, I returned two weeks ago and there’s no one to talk to, because the system has been nationalized. So it is difficult to explain the situation to the Trumps; it is complicated”, pointed Kayco executive.
