The launch of skill games on the company’s bwin.it site follows the successful launch of its online poker offering on Ongame’s Italian Poker Network.
The company said that it launched eight skill games in Italy earlier this week, including the games Solitaire, Blackjack, 3 Card Poker, Yatzy, Eldorado, Formula 0.01, Backgammon and 8-Ball Billard.
“As the world’s leading online gaming company, bwin continues to fortify its position in the Italian market as a genuine ‘house of games’ with sports bets and online poker – and now also with real-money skill games”, said bwin Co-CEO Norbert Teufelberger.
Last month the Italian Finance Ministry upgraded its predictions for the first year of real money online poker turnover from 400 million euros to 1 billion euros, as a result of higher than expected demand from Italian poker fans.
With its launch of skill games, bwin is well positioned to benefit from the popularity and success so far of the Italian online gaming market, with the company expected to take advantage of many cross-product marketing opportunities. Shares in bwin Interactive Entertainment AG will commence trading in Vienna this morning at 15.79 euros.
