South Africa's Montecasino completes full deployment of RFID technology

Within one week, GPI supplied Omega Gaming with 82 RFID Table Top Authenticators who were fitted to the tables within a few days. The implementation of RFID chips was also extended to include the R100 value chips to negate what was believed to be an additional area of high risk.

“Since the installation, all chip transactions are checked efficiently and quickly by our dealers by utilizing the very professionally installed RFID Table Top Authenticators,” declared Colin Worth, Montecasino Tables Manager.

By installing the RFID Table Top Authenticators, Montecasino has now protected its chip bank, which previously had to be replaced after finding counterfeit cash chips at considerable cost. The new devices interact perfectly with the RFID chips that the casino have had in play for the past three years.

“Over the past three years we have experienced no problems with either our RFID chips or the reading devices we have installed at all of our cashiering desks and at every table within our operation. We have found the 125 KHz technology to be very robust and reliable and does not appreciably slow down our transaction times. Considering the high value of our daily transactions and the protection RFID has afforded us we feel that the whole RFID exercise has been cost effective,” concluded Worth.
