This contract, which is expected to generate revenues to Gtech of approximately us$ 20 million over the contract term, follows a competitive procurement process, and has been approved by the Kansas Lottery Commission and the Kansas Information Technology Office.
Working with its subsidiary Spielo Manufacturing ULC, Gtech will install the company’s latest video central system, Intelligen, and provide ongoing services to the Kansas Lottery including operation and maintenance of the system. The system is expected to be operational by mid-2009.
“Gtech and Spielo are very pleased with this vote of confidence by the Kansas Lottery. We are committed to working closely with them on all facets of launching a state-of-the-art video central system for the six gaming facilities in the state,” said Gtech President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel.
“The Kansas Lottery will deploy the Company’s latest video central system, Intelligen, which is based upon technology that will support the Lottery’s electronic gaming machine network today, and into the future,” continued Patel.
Kansas Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten said, “Gtech’s forward-thinking Intelligen system will meet the technology needs of today and also the Kansas Lottery’s roadmap for the future. As technology advances in the gaming industry, Gtech’s system will adapt and allow the Lottery to remain among the leaders in the business.”
In addition to using a widely-accepted gaming industry protocol to allow electronic gaming machines to communicate with the system, Intelligen is also capable of supporting additional protocols as they become available. Moreover, the system will allow the Lottery to monitor individual electronic gaming machines, in real time, and support in-house and wide-area progressive electronic gaming machines.
The gaming facilities in Kansas will procure the electronic gaming machines on behalf of the Kansas Lottery.
