PokerTek wins Ameristar Casinos contract
"We value their industry leadership and look forward to introducing our technology to their players," added Halligan. Ameristar has already installed PokerTek’s PokerPro at one of its casinos in Iowa, marking the entrance of PokerTek’s products in the state.
Financial terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed.
PokerTek is a software-development company that makes electronic tables for up to 10 players of Texas Hold 'Em. The system deals cards, displays them on private screens to the players and provides general information on a large screen. It also allows customers to set up accounts for betting and keeps statistical data on games.
The system is designed to boost casino revenue by increasing the number of hands per hour and reducing labor costs for poker rooms. PokerTek also markets tables used in restaurants and bars.
