Belgium to open up online market

(Belgium).- Belgium could be set to open its Internal market to foreign online gambling providers as early as next year according to a report out this week from Markets and Research.

The market research organization revealed that a rising number of European gambling markets have recently begun opening up to foreign firms with Belgium showing a large amount potential.

The nation has offered a fairly open land-based betting and casino market for some time and now seems prepared to follow suit with its online market.

The publication reported that the nation's Parliament is planning to introduce new rules later this year to rationalize the control of the Belgian National Lottery, allowing it to move online.

Additionally, it revealed that foreign Internet gambling operators could be permitted to operate in Belgium as early as 2009.
