British Gambling Commission releases approved list

(UK).- In the UK, the Gambling Commission has published its latest list of approved test houses accepted to assess the compliance of online betting and gaming sites with its technical standards and requirements.

The latest list includes new entries Gaming Associates, Gaming Laboratories International and Gaming Laboratories Austria and includes details of which technical standards and requirements each test house can assess.

The Gambling Commission was established by the Gambling Act of 2005 and took over the role previously played by the Gaming Board for Great Britain in regulating casinos, bingo, gaming machines and lotteries. It also has responsibility for the regulation of betting and remote gambling as well as helping to protect children and vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling.

The Commission is not responsible for regulating spread betting or the National Lottery but does advise local and central government on issues related to gambling.

Approved test houses must have been approved in other jurisdictions along with have experience in testing gambling systems for these other authorities in addition to passing the Commission's requirements for integrity and independence.

The body stated that the list is an important milestone in its testing regime as operators may now approach test houses confident that they have been approved by the Commission and meet its requirements.
