Marek Kapica, Deputy Minister of Finance, stated that the nation is prepared to legalize online gambling before providing suitable legislative changes that it would then send “to the European Commission within the required notification procedure”.

“We cannot control this process anyway and it is better that the budget at least derives some revenues from it,” added Kapica.

Polish press sources have reported extensively on the government's attempts at possibly emulating Italian regulations on online gambling following the favorable ruling in the Placanica case by the European Court of Justice in March of last year.
