Successful meeting of CIBELAE's board

During Thursday 13th and Friday 14th of March, CIBELAE's Board of Directors met at Kennedy Hotel, in Santiago, Chile, to reach to an agreement in relation to the new planning strategies for the association, which groups 29 state lotteries from twenty Latin American countries, and 17 companies supplying goods and services for the lottery organizations.

This work meeting, which was called by the organization and hosted by Polla Chilena de Beneficencia, is the first formal session of the new Board of Directors elected during the XI CIBELAE's Congress held in El Salvador last October.

This important meeting gathered the main representatives of the Latin American state lotteries, such as CIBELAE's Chairman, José Manuel Avilés - the President of El Salvador's National Lottery, the first vice-president, Wellington Moreira Franco - the vice president of Caixa Economica Federal de Brasil, the second vice-president, Felipe Corsunsky the President of Asociation de Loterías, Quinielas y Casinos Estatales de Argentina (ALEA) and the Members Laura Encina - the Executive Director of the Bolivia National Lottery, Verónica Montellano - the President of Polla Chilena de Beneficencia, and Rui Cunha - the President of Lisboa's Santa Casa da Misericordia Lottery. Juan Antonio Gallardo, the Spain's Coordination Director of State Lotteries, also participated on behalf of its CEO.

Top executives from the Latin American lotteries also participated such as Paulo Toncovitch, Caixa Economica Federal CEO, from Brasil; Enrique Aparicio, the Secretary General of STL (Sistemas Técnicos de Loterías del Estado), Spain; Helena Pina da Cruz, Chairman's Advisor of Lisboa's Santa Casa da Misericordia Lottery; Margarida Palma, International Affairs Director of Lisboa's Santa Casa da Misericordia Lottery; and Pauline Chiffelle, the Polla Chilena de Beneficencia's Legal Advisor. Mario Prudkin, the Director of the Argentina National Lottery and María Ferreras, the Legal Advisor also took part as observers.

The CIBELAE meeting not only dealt with the subject matters for which the meeting was called, but also for developing a Workshop called “Lining up our work in CIBELAE” that was lectured by the Spanish advisor and teacher Mr. Juan Vera Gil, from Adolfo Ibáñez University, Chile.

The analysis of the vision, mission, values and new strategic objectives of the Association, and those of the lottery organizations belonging to it, as well as the threats and the opportunities faced by them in a globalized and changing world, were some of the issues analyzed in the workshop to line up the participation of the lotteries which are members of CIBELAE, by strengthening and modernizing their work.

It is worth noting that both the Workshop and the CIBELAE's Board of Directors were carried out on a simultaneous basis with the Seminar “Corporate Risk Management” in which several professionals from the Latin American Lottery organizations participated from March 11th to 14th. This seminar was convoked and organized by the Association and Polla Chilena de Beneficencia actively participated in it.
