Gibbons’ announcement was: “The Nevada Gaming Commission plays such a vital role in our largest industry". He said: "I am pleased Dr. Alamo has accepted the position and I am certain Nevada will benefit from his business experience and knowledge."

Nevada’s gaming regulation organizations are the most respected in the world and Alamo’s addition to the Nevada Gaming Commission will enhance its integrity.
Dr. Tony Alamo is a life-long Nevada resident. This is not Dr. Alamo’s first endeavor into public service for the State of Nevada. He served on the Nevada State Athletic Commission from 2001 until 2007.
Aside from Dr. Alamo’s service as a member of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, he has served as Chief of Staff at Sunrise Hospital, and as Chair of the Medical Advisory Board for the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Alamo was awarded a Medal of Unit Valor award in August, 2006 from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He was the first civilian to receive such an award.
