It completes a positive phase for the trade association

The biggest growth in membership has taken place in BACTA's Divisions 1 and 3, a factor which is being attributed in part to the increasing demands of complying with legislation, notably the Gambling Act.

BACTA National President Nick Harding explained: “The bureaucratic issues of applying for operating licenses, completing annual regulatory returns and premises licenses is significant. Add to that issues such as the WEE Directive and paper work from HM Revenue and Customs regarding VAT and AMLD on Section 16 and Section 21 machines and the burden on any size business is immense.”

“I know from experience that membership of BACTA lightens the burden and frees up time to do what the sector does best - operate,” Harding added.

The 10-year membership high completes a positive phase for the trade association and follows its successful Parliamentary lobby and media campaign which highlighted the serious consequences of the Gambling Act on the industry sector.
