If approved, sportsbooks may be banned for any medium of data transmission, specially Internet, in the country, including the Brazilian territorial sea and the air space.

The decision to present the project, according to representative Hauly, started due to the conclusion that every day there are illegal online sites dedicated to sportsbooks in the country.

The project is rigurous, because it includes the punishment to the organizers of bets, the bettors and the directors of financial institutions which, in a direct or indirect way, participate in the betting process.

“In order to combat electronic gambling, the US government made the “Internet Gambling Enforcement Act”, which prohibits Internet betting. We also need to do something similar”, affirmed Hauly.
