Chile: Pucón would lose more than us$ 400 thousand due to casino inactivity

(Chile).- Almost a month and a half after the big fire which affected Hotel Casino De Lago de Pucón (owned by Enjoy), the commercial and touristic consequences that it had on the council have been important.

It is estimated that, in the three months that it will be out of work, us$ 403,789 will be lost. According to the council of Carlos Barra, “We can measure the 10% decrease of the money of the slots que have as a council. This money is part of a contract of a tender process we made with the owner of the casino and, in the three months in which Casino de Pucón will be closed, it will lose around us$ 403.789.”

The building had an insurance from November 2006, and Liberty insurance firm just said they are following the investigation procedure of the accident.

When asked about the way in which the fire had caused counsequences in tourism,

Pucon mayor pointed that it is not the main reason why people go to Pucon, because the zone also has natural resources, but no doubt the casino is also important. “We have noticed a decrease from all those people that have its second house in Pucón, because they come for shorter periods and they used to visit the casino. It was an important attraction and we are confident that this will be soon restablished”.

According to Barra, the official reopening would be on December 29th, altough it would be ready for December 20th, according to Enjoy sources. “They are working on three daily shifts 24 hours a day and improvements have been important, so the owner have told us not to worry about”, he sostained.

Barra added: “Fortunately, the impact had not been such, we currently have a series of trade events in Pucón and we cannot say business have beun such.
