Televisa announced an investment of U$S 60 million in bets and lotteries

(Mexico).- Media group Televisa expects the authorization to sell lottery tickets soon, but logistic unexpected problems have caused important delays in the opening of its lottery electronic terminals.

Televisa, the biggest televisión channel in Mexico and the largest producer of TV programs in Spanish worldwide, announced for the first time in February that it would invest us$ 60 million this year in betting business, mainly in lottery electronic machines.

The lottery business “is no doubt delayed”, expressed the executive vicepresident Alfonso de Angoitia. He mentioned delays in the installation of lottery terminals and a 40% of changes in the staff in small stores, which has difficulted to train people to learn how to use the machines.

The firm has installed more than 4,700 terminals and expects to have other 6,000 operating before the end of the year, commented de Angoitia. He also commented that the company expects the authorization to sell lottery tickets “very soon”.

Televisa reported a decrease in its incomes due to a great increment of taxes in revenues. He indicated that its net benefit was US$ 222 million, compared to us$ 240 million the same period last year.
