Italian government not preparing legislation to limit lottery fines

(Italy).- Italian minister responsible for gambling, Vincenzo Visco, is not preparing new legislation to limit possible fines on Lottomatica over video game terminals according to government sources.

The government official was quoted in Italy’s MF Daily newspaper as saying that there were no plans to halt fines being threatened by the public accounts watchdog, but an inquiry was underway.

Lottomatica, along with a number of other gaming companies, are also believed to appealing to the administrative court.

The government is also reportedly discussing how Lottomatica and other companies can avoid up to a combined 98 billion euros in fines, threatened by the public accounts watchdog.
