WPT returns to Atlantic City for 2007 Borgata Poker Open

(US).- Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa announced details of the 2007 Borgata Poker Open and World Poker Tour (WPT) events, marking the Tour’;s seventh visit to Atlantic City.

The 16-days of events will begin September 5 th and will conclude with the 5-day World Poker Tour Finals, September 16-20.

The 2007 WPT Borgata Poker Open in September will build on the success of the most recent Borgata Winter Open in January. The 2007 Borgata Winter Poker Open’s WPT Main Event drew 571 poker players with a prize pool of over us$ 5,538,700, making it the largest poker tournament in Atlantic City ’s illustrious history.

Participants ranged from novice Internet players to seasoned pros and poker heavyweights, including well-known celebrity players Men “the Master” Nguyen and Matt Glantz. But it was premier player, John “Johnny World” Hennigan, who took home 1 st place with us$ 1.6 million.

Hennigan, who got his start playing poker with friends in the neighborhood, began playing professionally in Atlantic City, and now joins Daniel Negreanu as the only players to win a World Poker Tour title, a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Bracelet, and the US Poker Championship .

The 2007 Borgata Poker Open will be held in Borgata’s Event Center, bringing a total of 155 poker tables on property during the event.

Televised nationally on the Game Show Network and one of the premier stops on World Poker Tour’s 19-tournament tour, the 2007 Borgata Poker Open will feature the world’s top poker players along with local fan favorites competing in No-Limit Texas Hold’em poker.
