British users will be able to place bets on various international sporting events as a result of the deal using Fluxx subsidiary Jaxx UK. Online services and search engine provider AOL already has a deal with Jaxx whereby the subsidiary company runs a lottery service, one of AOL’s most successful e-commerce services in Germany.
"As part of our mission to make the AOL UK portal the premier online destination for web users and advertisers alike, we are looking at a range of partnerships and initiatives to drive our business forward in Europe," commented VP of interactive marketing for AOL Europe Michael Steckler. The deal with Fluxx fits AOL’s strategy as they are experienced and full of energy and ideas, he added.
Rainer Jacken, management board spokesman of Fluxx, said that the UK market is "one of the largest and most attractive in the world", worth a significant amount of money. The market is, however, underdeveloped and this new agreement between the two companies will be able to access this potential, he added.
Fluxx is based in Germany, with registered offices in Altenholz, near Kiel. It specialises in the provision of lottery services and it makes its products and services available to a range of companies including Freenet, Lycos and Yahoo!.
