Chile:"I am convinced that I have done a serious technical job"

What lessons did you get from the report presented by the investigative commission?

For me, the commission is a case concluded. We knew this was a very competitive process, with societies that did not obtain the operating services and others that obtained less than what they wanted. That's why some of them made claims on administrative and legal ways, but up to the moment, all legal, administrative and political resolutions have already defined the issue. So now we are in another stage.

But did you perform any kind of change on the Superintendence, considering that its procedures were put into doubt?

We are calm because we are convinced of the job we have developed. We think it was a serious and technical labour. Besides, all the team of the Superintendence has my full support, because they have done a very good job.

Not only the Superintendence was put into question by the representatives' report, but also asked him to be removed from its position. Have you thought of quitting?

No. I am fully convinced that I have performed a serious technical task, as required by a position of this kind, and this is a position that requires an exclusive confidence by the government.

But the fact of being questioned by a surveillance commission should have consequences.

Not at all, because I am convinced that I have done the job required.

And regarding public prosecutor Fernando Riveros, Have you considered asking him to leave his position?

No. I have just said that all the team in charge of the Superintendence has my full confidence because it is a professional team.

But part of the questioning has to do with the way in which he assumed his position as public prosecutor.

The way in which he was named was not illegal and he has my full support, because the task he has developed is very well considered not only by me but also by the resolution council.
