Lottomatica penalty threat suspended

(Italy).- Italian gaming firm Lottomatica confirmed reports that Lazio’;s regional administrative court has suspended a 4 billion euros penalty threat from the Italian state gambling monopoly (AAMS).

The AAMS had accused Lottomatica of not adhering to ’service norms’ for its Lottomatica Videolot Rete network.

A statement from Lottomatica said that the company remains convinced that it has fully complied with its own obligations, and that finances will not be negatively impacted by the investigation.

In related news, Lottomatica’s subsidiary GTech Corp was notified by the New Mexico Lottery that another vendor has been selected to provide equipment and services for a new online lottery system, terminals and IP-communications network when the contract runs out in 2008.

The New Mexico Lottery, which GTech had provided lottery products and services to since 1996, contributes between us$ 5-7 million annually to GTech’s service revenues.
