San Pablo council closed 152 bingo halls in more than a year

Due to Operación Huracán (Hurricane Operation) of the Federal Police, organized at the beginning of April this year, from April 19, San Pablo councils have already closed 102 bingo halls, In total, there are 31 sub-civil governor's offices.

From June 28th 2006, the municipal decree 47.415/2006 bans the issuance of a license for bingo operation in the city of San Pablo. It is possible to install a bingo hall only with a judicial action, through appeals for protection, However, it is already in force the Binding Article Nº 2, issued by the High Federal Court, that establishes: “Any state or district law or normative act which stipulates on systems of consortiums and draws, including bingos and lotteries, is considered inconstitutional”.

For the Attorney General's Office of the State of San Pablo, judicial decisions that also authorize the bingo operation should be taken due to the Federal Public Ministery or by the same judges that took those decisions.

According to the press agency of the Attorney General's Office in the state of San Pablo, based in information of the attorneys, since 2005, just through public civil actions by the Federal Public Ministery of San Pablo, 60 bingo halls were closed in Gran San Pablo and 44 in the interior of the State.
