The WSOP, which is owned and operated by a subsidiary of Harrah’s Entertainment, drew 8,773 participants for the us$ 10,000 buy-in Main Event in 2006. In total, the 2006 WSOP saw more than 48,000 entries compete for a gross prize pool in excess of us$ 171 million.
