According to the Bingo Halls Workers' Association (Atbingos), al least 6 thousand people may lose their employments in the state.

Bingos are not legalized in Brazil. Games of chance and irregularities associated to them have been fought by a series of police investigations. The last one is called Hurricane Operation. Since December, Federal Police performed four actions in Río. According to Edna Barbosa, President of Atbingos, the Association wants the activity to be regulated.

“I have worked in a bingo hall for 12 years. When I started, the activity was legal. Bingo started in Brazil as an iniciative of the state, through Zico Law. I understand that the lack of regulation compromises the activity and is useful in cases of corruption of public agents”, said Barbosa.

Edna Barbosa also affirms that the Brazilian state stopped collecting more than us$ 1,029,230,136 in taxes for the lack of regulation. This amount of money, added, could be invested in public security, health and education.
