The suggestion would be that gambling rooms should be opened in such regions with a low human development and a high touristic potential.

According to José Carlos Chicarelli, President of Sindilitoral, one of the ideas would be to open a casino in the beaches of Parana, in order to boost tourism.

Casinos have been banned for 61 years in the country, however, supporters say casinos would increment the employment rate, the state collection, tourism and investments in infraestructure for the less developed regions.

Dario Dias Paixão, Coordinator of Tourism of Unicenp, thinks that the opening of casinos would bring many benefits to the country, as long as especific legislation is created, as well as a control entity. “We have to remember that some sort of games, such as lotteries, are already legal in Brazil”, He concluded.
