Novomatic opened new headquarters in Latvia's capital city

(Latvia).- As one of the largest Austrian firms exporting to the Baltic States, the Novomatic Group of Companies has now opened a regional headquarters in Riga, the capital of Latvia, with an investment of 5 million euros.

The success story of the Novomatic Group of Companies in the Baltic States started in 1992 when founder Prof. Johann F. Graf realized the great potential of the region as a future market. Today the group is one of the most important Austrian exporters to the Baltics.

According to CEO Franz Wohlfahrt, the exports of the subsidiary Austrian Gaming Industries GmbH (AGI) in 2006 to Latvia alone exceeded 20 million euros. Novomatic gaming equipment are absolute top-export products to Latvia and head the foreign trade statistics.

According to a survey in the Latvian economy magazine “Kapitals“ the local Baltic subsidiary Alfor SIA ranges right behind the national airline Air Baltic, ranked 18th in the Top-101 ranking of Latvian companies. With 917 staff and 125 electronic casinos Alfor reached a turnover of 39 million euros in 2006.

The new regional headquarters near the Riga Airport have been built with an investment of 5 million euros and offer highly modern offices for 100 staff. Wohlfahrt: “With this new reference project we can once more advance our expansion and investment strategy in the Baltic region.”

Today the group operates a total number of 4,500 gaming machines in the three Baltic states and in all employs more than 1,000 staff. In Latvia, 39 million euros have been invested up to now, in Estonia (with 100 staff) 7 million euros and in Lithuania (with 25 staff) 8 million euros.
