At 11,30 am, representatives of the workers started a meeting with the President of the House of Legislators, Arlindo Chinaglia (PT-SP), in order to ask for support in the regulation of the activity. Deputies Arnaldo Faria de Sá (PPB-SO) and Paulinho da Força (PDT-SP) were together with the workers in the demonstration, also.

According to the association, with the closure of all the bingo halls, around 40 thousand people will lose their jobs. Workers started a walk that begun in the Cathedral and concluded in front of the National Congress.

All the way, demonstrators carried posters and shouted phrases like “¡Bingo, regulation now!”, and “Here there are 300 thousand employments”. On top of that, workers reminded that their employments were not connected with the accusations of corruption in the sector.

Workers also have to meet with the Miniter of Employment, Carlos Lupi. Deputy Paulo Pereira da Silva (PDT-SP), President of Fuerza Sindical, reminded that bingos generate 120 thousand direct employments and that the regulation will bring the workers all the rights according to the law. “Regulation will contribute to end with crimes such as money laundering”, said Pereira da Silva.

A great part of the bingo halls that used to operate with appeals for protection were closed after Hurricane Operation, held in April, when people connected to the sector were detained. The accusation of the Federal Police is that the acquisition and sale of sentences was used as a way to liberalize the operation of the sector. After that, several bingo halls were closed.
