“We will support trade unions. Businessmen will excuse officials so they may travel to Brazilia. Eventually, they will contribute with the meeting, for example, providing buses”, said Abrabin president (Brazilian Bingo Association), Olavo Sales de Oliveira.
Sales de Oliveira affirmed that it will be a national movement. During the meeting promoted by Pro-Bingo Movement, businessmen, managers and suppliers designed the strategies to put pressure on the authorities.
During the meeting, Abrabin president said that the actions will have two guidelines: to pressure the federal government to issue a Provisional Measure in favour of the activity and also to make lobby in the Congress to achieve that parliaments are “sensitive” to the problems of the sector.
Sales de Oliveira was pesimistic with regards to the future of the activity in the country.
“I believe all bingos will remain closed for 30 days maximum, as long as the appeals for protection (that allow their operation) are not valid any more”.
Sales de Oliveira calculates that around 30,000 resignations will occur only in San Pablo, concluding the activities. He also thinks that almost 100 bingo halls will still continue operating in the city due to judicial authorizations.
