IGT secures Nevada server-based approval
The system permits operators to change denominations or complete games remotely and instantaneously, subject to regulations that prevent games from being changed while being played.
“We have not had any negative input from Treasure Island or any of the test sites outside of Nevada,” IGT Compliance Director Connie Stafford told the commissioners
before the panel approved the system.
IGT had received approval previously for a system that changes denominations and payback percentage remotely. The latest approval adds game themes to the mix.
Under Nevada's rules, no changes can be made on a machine until it has been
idle for at least four minutes. IGT officials called the approval a “baby step” toward implementation of server-based gaming, noting that the technology is still in its very early stages.
