Boyd Gaming revenues down

(US).- Boyd Gaming reports lower sales across all of its market segments, though its quarterly profit spiked on an asset sale. Las Vegas-based firm owns the California Hotel, a mecca for Hawaii locals vacationing in Vegas.

The company also reported almost us$ 11 million in revenue from its Vacations Hawaii division. Boyd sold a casino during the quarter. Dialing out special items, continuing operation profits fell to us$ 44 million from us$ 72 million.

Boyd also closed a casino last November to build a new one but sales fell in other segments as well. "The first quarter was highlighted by the resiliency of our Las Vegas Locals segment," President Keith Smith said.

For the first quarter, revenue was us$ 517 million, compared to us$ 590 million the year before. Net income was us$ 216 million, and the year before it was us$ 63 million.
