NBA signs TAB as Official Wagering Partner in Australia

Both organizations will work through the NBA's 75th anniversary season 2021-22 and beyond. The deal involves the featuring of TAB across the NBA's digital platforms including NBA.com, the NBA App, NBA Australia's Feature and Twitter accounts, and more. They will also produce a localized version of NBABet Stream, the NBA's betting-focused alternate telecast, marking the first such execution outside the US.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced Tuesday an expanded multi-year partnership with TAB, making it the Official Wagering Partner of the NBA in Australia. 

The NBA and TAB will work together through the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Season in 2021-22 and beyond. TAB will be featured across the NBA’s digital platforms including NBA.com, the NBA App, NBA Australia’s Feature and Twitter accounts and will serve as the presenting partner of a localized version of NBA Pick’Em, the NBA’s free-to-play prediction game. 

Additionally, the NBA and TAB will produce a localized version of NBABet Stream, the NBA’s betting-focused alternate telecast, marking the first such execution outside of the US. 

In an official statement, the companies described this alliance as a step that will “build on the synergies between media and betting to create the ultimate NBA fan experience with live games, betting and authentic NBA touchpoints in more than 4,000 venues”. 

NBA and TAB’s parent company Tabcorp previously announced a partnership in 2019 that brought NBA TV, the league’s 24-hour television network to Tabcorp’s Sky Channel in thousands of retail and entertainment venues across Australia. 

In an official press release, Tabcorp Wagering & Media Managing Director Adam Rytenskild spoke about this cooperation and said: “The NBA is one of the world’s great sporting organizations. The popularity of the NBA in Australia continues to grow, particularly amongst younger audiences.  We have a strong focus on Racing and this partnership strengthens TAB’s sport offering which will enable us to introduce new customers to wagering and to Racing.  We look forward to working with the team at the NBA to provide our customers with a unique offering through outstanding products, promotions and content.”

NBA Asia Executive Vice President & Managing Director Scott Levy added: “Fan engagement is the core of our partnership with TAB, a proven leader and innovator in the wagering space. This NBA season is primed to be yet another thrilling basketball showcase, and together with TAB, we will deliver the best possible gaming experience to deepen our engagement with the many passionate NBA fans in Australia who are interested in gaming.”
