Penn Entertainment announced Thursday its online gaming platforms Barstool Sportsbook & Casino and HollywoodCasino.com have received RG Check iGaming Accreditation from the Responsible Gambling Council.

The company’s subsidiary Penn Interactive became the first U.S. operator to voluntarily undergo this accreditation, said the business, which is widely regarded as "one of the most comprehensive responsible gambling accreditation programs in the world."

Penn has now achieved RG Check accreditation across its Interactive division with subsidiary ‘theScore Bet’ securing the accreditation prior to its launch in Ontario. At the time, theScore Bet became the first prospective private market operator in Ontario to achieve accreditation.

Chris Soriano, Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer of Penn Entertainment, stated: “Penn is committed to being at the forefront of responsible gaming and achieving this accreditation for our online platforms further strengthens our top-of-class RG program.”

We have and will continue to be proactive by investing in valuable training and resources to ensure that we are providing the safest possible environment for players to responsibly enjoy gaming. Electing to undergo, and receiving accreditation following a thorough review of our operation, demonstrates that we’re actioning the highest standards of RG programming,” he added.

Shelley White, CEO at Responsible Gambling Council (RGC), added: “RGC would like to congratulate PENN Interactive on achieving RG Check accreditation for U.S. sites: Barstool Sportsbook and HollywoodCasino.com. This accomplishment re-affirms its commitment to player protections and more importantly, making responsible gambling a priority in its operations.”

In other recent news, last week, Penn Entertainment shared its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2022. During Q4, the casino and gaming company saw a small revenue increase, up by 0.8% to $1.6 billion. While revenue came in right around expectations, the company’s interactive gambling business made a profit, notable given it is tougher to deliver one during the third and fourth quarters, as sportsbooks spend more on marketing and promotions during football season.

The last quarter of the past year also saw a net income of $20.8 million and a net income margin of 1.3%, down when compared to income of $44.8 million and a margin of 2.8% in the prior year. Adjusted EBITDA came in at $438.3 million, an increase of almost 19% year-over-year
