Gaming & Technology Expo, the fair that marked the return to in-person business events for LatAm's gaming industry, concluded last week in Cartagena de Indias with a rich academic program, an extensive business exposition, and many businesses taking place. "The event highlighted a common purpose of unity and interaction between regulators, trade bodies, suppliers, and operators," the organizers said.

The World Congress of Gambling in eSports held on August 18 and 19, "was attended by 266 attendees, 26 speakers, and panelists, in intense sessions developed in strict compliance with biosafety protocols," they explained from 3A Producciones, the company responsible for the event.

“The balance of visitors by countries shows that 23 countries were represented at the first in-person event after the compulsory 18-month recess. Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Armenia, Russia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Switzerland, Venezuela, Panama, United States, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Philippines, Sweden, Uruguay, Czech Republic, Croatia, Malta, and Chile" they added. In addition, "the registration report shows that 607 people entered the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center, in the exhibition areas, both in the Explanada San Francisco site as well as in the Great Hall Barahona during the two days of the event."

An absolute novelty was the night exhibition, its design, the building of the stands, and the lighting by City Group Architecture, as well as the logistics of access and controlled capacity through QR codes for each attendee.

For Cristina Quintero, Commercial Manager of Golden Gaming SAS, a Win Systems machine distribution company, “the event was great, we made good and important sales. We were at our full capacity at all times. Even before the hall was open to the public, there were customers lining up to be served. The truth is that we did not expect this result. We wanted to give the casino sector a bit of peace and make a presence in Cartagena, but what we experienced far exceeded our expectations. We are extremely pleased to have taken the lead as land-based exhibitors at GAT Expo 2021; without a doubt, it was the best decision yet”.

Additionally, María Bashkevich, Marketing Manager at Uplatform, said: “More than 9,000 kilometers and 24 hours to reach GAT Expo 2021, but it was definitely worth the time and the trip! Great ideas, contacts, a better understanding of the market, and wonderful Latin American soul and culture! Thank you, GAT Gaming & Technology Expo. I would also like to express my since appreciation to Uplatform for this incredible opportunity.”

Paulo Nova, CTO of Caleta Gaming, commented: “Caleta Gaming participated in the event to increase networking, contact Colombian operators and create new business opportunities, the event exceeded our expectations. We return home having more experience and having solidified our relationship with some clients and partners. Without a doubt, in-person events returned with a lot of energy, I think everyone longed for this type of meeting. All the people I came into contact with were very happy to have attended. Moreover, part of the event was held outdoors, which further contributed to health and safety protocols.”

And María Diachkova, Account Manager of EvenBet Gaming, explained that "the outstanding exhibition made it possible to learn more about iGaming in Latin America, and meet the main operators and game providers in person. In addition, I am impressed with all the talks given by the speakers of the conference, and the updated analysis of the market and services. For me personally, GAT has become an incentive for a new stage in my professional life. The organizers made a great event that we all missed during the pandemic".

Lastly, José Aníbal Aguirre, CEO of 3A Producciones, assured that “GAT Expo has given a breath of relief and new strength to the gaming industry in LatAm. The greatest achievement is the dynamics that the event contributed to the B2B commercial activity with important content in digital transformation. I need to give special recognition to the delegation of the Directorate of Games and Raffles of the Government of Mexico, headed by Maestra Alma Itzel De Lira Castillo and the President of Coljuegos, César Valencia Galiano, as well as John Jairo Altamiranda, Commercial Vice President of the Colombian regulatory entity, who shared strong figures on the exponential growth of online legal gambling in the country. Sponsor, BetPlay, Platinum Sponsor, WorldMatch, VIP Sponsor, Rivalo, Gold Sponsor, BtoBet, Silver Sponsor, and Golden Race and Mobadoo, Digital Sponsors and all our exhibitors for their trust, despite all uncertainty. Also to our Geekcity allies, who are so knowledgeable about eSports and its upcoming developments. Likewise, I highlight the work of Nueve Producciones in the video streaming of the event”.

It should be noted that 3A Producciones has already announced its next event for September 29, at the Sheraton Hotel in Bogotá. It will be the opportunity for an in-person business meeting in the capital of Colombia. Given the number of companies with offices and representation in said jurisdiction, the presence of land-based and online companies is expected, which will exhibit equipment, as well as share in conferences, and take part in networking.
