n its third exhibit in SAGSE Buenos Aires, Zuum introduced its double zero roulette, which has been experiencing huge success in the Latin American region, to visitors, clients, and potential partners. Igor Cimerman, Zuum’s Sales Director, LatAm and Spain, said that even though they did not receive many visitors on the first day of the trade show, the second day brought many Latin American attendees and clients to the company’s stand including visitors from Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, and Argentina, among others, who were very interested in their products.
"In the last few months, the economic situation in Argentina has become worse because of a massive dollar devaluation that has caused problems to the industry. However, there’s still a lot of gambling in the country, especially in Buenos Aires," Cimerman explained. "In Argentina, our distributor Arte-Coin has major contacts in the region, and that enables us to increase our market share and product offering. Moreover, we are currently undergoing GLI's certification process to begin operating in Argentina in the next few months."
Cimerman also explained that even though their products are generally very well received in the region, they do not have the same performance in each market. That is why the company first installs one or to machines to see if players accept them, and their performance is positive. "Our portfolio includes live bingo machines which work really well in some countries like Colombia and Spain but that is not the case, for instance, in the Dominican Republic," he said.
The executive also spoke about the company’s expansion plans at a global level. He said that in the last four years, they expanded greatly thanks to their products and how well-received they were by players. "We have a solid presence in Europe, in countries such as France, the Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, as well as in Asia, where we have signed deals with some of the major operators in Macau. In the Philippines, for example, the bingo segment is really strong. So we can say that we have experienced strong growth at a global level, except in Africa, where even though we have distributed some machines, our presence is still not solid enough."
As regards the rise of online gambling, especially in Spain, Cimerman highlighted that he does not see this as a threat to retail gaming. "The excitement players feel when they see a wheel spinning and the expectations this generates are feelings that cannot be replicated in the virtual environment. That is why players continue visiting casinos and other gaming venues."
Finally, the sales director for LatAm and Spain revealed that Zuum’s event calendar is completely full: the team is gearing up to attend the upcoming edition of ICE London, in February, GAT in Cartagena in April, and Peru Gaming Show, among others.
