Gateway Casino has provided a special tour of the current casino renovation and expansion project in Hanover.

T

he expanded casino under construction is being rebranded as Playtime Casino Hanover, and will feature 300 slots, 8 live table games, and showcase two restaurants MATCH Eatery & Public House and The Buffet.

Gateway President and CEO Tony Santo flew all the way in from Vancouver to tour the 18 million dollar renovation and expansion project with Hanover Councilors, Bayshore Broadcasting reports.

Santo is pleased with the progress and says if all goes as planned the newly expanded casino will be open to the public by mid March (aiming for March 19th) with a grand opening scheduled for April.

There will also be a patio that will overlook the racetrack.

Santo likens the current casino as ‘slots in a box’ and says the new casino will be a true entertainment facility providing a place to gather, eat, socialize, take in some live entertainment as well as play table games and slots machines.

Mayor Sue Paterson is thrilled with the progress and says the new casino has been very good for the local economy.

In less than a months time, Gateway staff will increase from 70 to 170.

Of the 100 newly created jobs, there are still a few opening in the area table games and food and beverage.

The newly expanded casino will be located in what at one time was going to be the Carriage Hall, a project that was started by the Hanover, Bentinck & Brant Agricultural Society but never finished.

Over the last several months Gateway has been converting this once shell of building into what will soon become known as Playtime Casino Hanover.

The new casino boasts an expanded footprint of 32,672 square feet with an additional 3,283 square foot mezzanine.
