During 2018, the world’s gaming industry moved a step forward by developing many new gaming options for players. New technology enabled the development of tools to support the new creations and trends being introduced to the industry. These new trends which involved sports betting and online games called the attention of gaming markets and their respective authorities. On one hand, there was a need to create public interest in these new gaming options and on the other hand, the need exists to implement policies and procedures to creating clear rules that guarantee the activity within a formal framework. Many markets opened doors to sports betting and online games. For example, in Latin America, Brazil and Argentina passed their own regulations. In Peru, the law is on its ways to be passed by the government and get voted on in the Congress. It looks like next April will be a critical month and we will know whether this law is passed or not.
With the expectation of approval and regulation of online gaming and sports betting, the Peruvian market has drawn the attention of many of the largest and most successful companies already operating in the online market who are willing to expand their business.
PGS started pre-sale of booth space for its 17th show edition. More than 5,000 m2 have already been confirmed. With the increased interest in sports betting and online companies, the organizers estimate to end up with a floor area of approximately 8,500 m2, representing a 25% increase compared to last year’s show.
