This week, Yogonet talked to Mike Robinson, International Product PR and Media Manager Novomatic, and to get a grasp on his experience at G2E this year, the novelties Novomatic has unveiled at the expo, how succesful the exchange with the audience was and what the future holds in store for the firm.

hat are the highlights Novomatic has prepared for G2E?

We had a variety of product lines with us at the expo: our new cabinets – the Panthera™ 2.27, Panthera™ Curve 1.43 and V.I.P. Lounge™ Curve 1.43 –, new content from our Mount Prospect Studio in Chicago as well as the 707 Games and Winfinity Games studios in Austria. There was also our key IP title for international markets, MacGyver™. This was created with the US casino market in mind by our Mount Prospect Studio and in partnership with CBS Studios. We’re enthused to have received some outstanding feedback at the show.

Another area to highlight is our Enchanted Fortunes Linked Jackpot™ on the Panthera™ Curve 1.43 – the presentation was in 4K with several titles on display such as Asian Fortunes™, Book of Ra™ Mystic Fortunes, Voodoo Fortunes™ and Goddess Rising™. Linked progressives is a direction where Novomatic is driving growth, especially for the North American market, and remains a big development focus for the company in other regions around the world.

Electronic Table Games was another area of interest, and the team demonstrated several updates to our proven and robust NOVO LINE™ Novo Unity II platform that have been driven by demand in the North American market, such as side bets. We presented four side bets at G2E: Spread-Bet Roulette, Spread-Bet Black Jack and Spread-Bet Baccarat under an exclusive agreement with Cammegh and our in-house developed Poker 3+ side bet.

Sports betting played a significant role on our stand. We have collaborated with Sportradar on a solution called NovoPrime Sports, which is currently live in Italy. This is a scalable, very fast and efficient system which we are also presenting for the US market. And we have another solution in collaboration with Kambi to complete our sports betting presentation. In addition, the updated myACP casino management system was presented by Octavian with a refreshed look and feel.

What has been the response to Novomatic’s offering at this edition of G2E?

Particularly MacGyver™ has received remarkable feedback. We displayed it on three Novostar® V.I.P. III cabinets – that feature two large 50” screens behind a 27” touchscreen terminal and the Python Chair that offers a fully immersive experience – all those machines were fully occupied the entire show. We also showed From Dusk Till Dawn™ in this format, as well as presenting both IP titles in a compact version on the popular V.I.P. Lounge™ 2.32 cabinet.

There was additionally a lot of interest in several other brand new titles we previewed at G2E. Our presentation was strong this year. We are really putting an effort on the US, creating products specifically for the market, and it was clear to see. Novomatic has been active in the US for a few years and it’s been a constant learning curve. We now have tried and tested product in the market, and have a strong content pipeline for 2019.

What’s next in the firm’s agenda as far as events are concerned?

On October 25th in Mexico City, our local subsidiary Crown Gaming Mexico will host the third edition of its Post G2E Cocktail Evening. This annual event allows us to follow up on our G2E promotions and launches with the top operators in Mexico. Following that, we’ll be at BEGE in Bulgaria, another important market for us. And then, of course, finalizing preparations for ICE in London where we’ll again lead with a strong product showcase.

Anything else you would like to highlight?

At G2E this year, our interactive division Greentube is presenting content for regulated real-money markets in the US such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We are also in advanced stages of introducing popular Novomatic content in Colombia into the regulated online market there, and are watching the interactive space in Latin America very closely. Hopefully, the well-crafted and transparent model in Colombia will spearhead other jurisdictions in the region, with Peru already in negotiations, to enact similar legislation.
