Grupo Televisa is implementing strategies to sell its non-strategic assets and focus on its most profitable businesses. For this reason, the firm is in talks to sell his games and raffle businesses.
Among the units for sale are PlayCity Casino and PlayCity Apuestas, which began operations in 2005, and currently have 17 stores in Mexico, with 7,200 electronic gaming machines and a sports betting website. Purchase price for both businesses would be around USD 300 million. The operation would close within the next three months.
PlayCity Casino operates under the subsidiary International Bets (AISA), which also controls Sorteos del Trébol, a brand that offers a variety of daily or weekly draws.
Alfonso de Angoitia, executive co-president of Grupo Televisa, said in his last conference with financial analysts that they were making progress in their plans to sell non-strategic businesses, including live entertainment and radio.
