With 2018 Peru Gaming Show behind us, Yogonet interviewed Eduardo Aching, VP International Gaming Operations to discuss Konami's presence at the fair, the strengths of their presentation and what the future will hold for Konami in terms of event agenda and product development.

W

as Peru Gaming Show a good fit for Konami? On a scale of 1 to 5, with 1 being “poor” and 5 being “excellent,” how successful were your client and prospect meetings?

This year’s Peru Gaming Show was a very important event for Konami and Pacific Gaming, our exclusive distributor for the region. I would definitely rank its success in the highest figures. Pacific Gaming has done exceptionally well in providing key local support, product insight, and strategic consultation to Peruvian operators, and it shows in the conversations and partnership we observed at PGS 2018. On the product side, customers were very excited with new releases like Smash Smash Festival and the curved Concerto Crescent cabinet. There is strong confidence in the market that these latest products will help generate greater positive outcomes.

What were your strengths on the trade show floor?

Our more than 50 new themes for SeleXion multi-game carried the biggest strength in numbers. The depth and quality of Konami’s game library give operators a leading mix of fresh game content for reaching a variety of players. Our casino customers were also pleased to see expansions on classic titles with releases like Lotus Land Deluxe Wild, Mayan Chief Great Stacks, African Beat, and even Quick Strike. Additionally, there is strong global momentum for Konami’s newest bonus game mechanics in games like Smash Smash Festival linked, Star Watch Magma, Lucky O’Leary Jackpots, and Celestial Moon Riches. These games have proven performance and popularity with today’s players and we’re focused on continued R&D innovation for the newest Konami progressive and bonus game features.

iGaming regulation is the hot topic in Peru. But what about land-based? Name three big challenges or problems that this market segment faces.

Likely the top concern for operators in Peru is how to attract more players and further expand their core customer base. Environment, equipment, service, and amenities all play a role in that, and we’re happy to support by innovating new game concepts, proven math models, and engaging bonus adventures that help create a memorable experience for guests.

The depth and quality of Konami’s game library give operators a leading mix of fresh game content for reaching a variety of players."

What is next on the company agenda?

Konami’s next big event is G2E Las Vegas, where we will showcase a powerful lineup of the latest popular play mechanics and cabinets. In the interim, there will be many more releases for single screen Crescent and Stack that we’re excited to introduce to Latin America this year. Konami’s Strike Zone game mechanic has demonstrated outstanding success and is featured in new Crescent/Stack games like Star Watch Magma, Star Watch Fire, and Agent: Magnifying Jackpots. These titles uniquely reward players with symbol-driven bonus events at higher bet amounts and have strong potential for expansion in the region. Additionally, this fall marks the launch of Konami’s new 65” screen Concerto Opus machine. In many ways, Concerto Opus is the next evolution of our Podium Goliath cabinet, which has seen strong popularity as an oversized cabinet with great game content and reasonable floor space requirements. Concerto Opus delivers those same benefits in 4K Ultra HD resolution with exclusive game releases like Solstice Celebration Triple Sparkle and Riches with Daikoku Triple Sparkle.
