Rush Street Interactive Colombia has been licensed by the national regulating agency Coljuegos to operate online gambling throughout Colombia via its www.rushbet.co domain, becoming the tenth authorised operator in the country.

T

he president of Coljuegos, Juan B. Pérez Hidalgo, has signed a contract with Rush Street Interactive Colombia to operate sports betting via the www.rushbet.co. domain.

With the 2018 World Cup in Russia just a week ahead, Hidalgo remarked that the country has an online game portfolio composed of 10 operators, in which players have the possibility to perform bets with guarantees around security, the payment of prizes, the proper and safe handling of personal and financial information, and the control of the game habit with the implementation of individual limits.

Colombia is the first country in America to regulate this type of online gaming. There are already 10 websites that offer online bets in a legal way: wplay.co, betplay.com.co, colbet.co, zamba.co, codere.com.co, mijugada.co, masgol.co, luckia.cosportium.com.co and now add www.rushbet.co. "These companies certified the fulfillment of the indicated financial, legal and technical requirements, with which both the operators and Coljuegos guarantee that those Colombians and those who wish to bet with foreigners to bet have security over their bets," the official said.

"The entry of online operators appeals to those interested in finding a renewed approach to gambling, and by the time the World Cup unfolds, there are 10 options that, according to the tastes and bets, generate a more competitive market. At the same time, it confirms the great interest of the private sector in the market of games of chance in the country. We have worked as an entity to have a regulation that provides those who meet the established financial, technical and legal requirements, open opportunities in the industry," he added.

Rush Street Interactive Colombia S.A.S. is an America-based online betting company, interested in fully regulated markets -which explains the timing for its entry into Colombia, where it will initially offer its sports betting product within the framework of the World Cup-

"Colombia is a highly demanding sports community, especially in regards to soccer, so the presence of the selection in the World Cup Russia 2018 would lead us to believe in increased betting. In addition, with the offer of operators, players will have different entertainment options, they will be able to bet not only if the National Team qualifies for the second phase, or if James Rodríguez or Radamel Falcao score a goal in the first match, or who will be the first player to collect the corner kick ", detailed Pérez Hidalgo.

He also explained that since the first authorized operator entered the market in July 2017, legal gambling amounted to $75 billion (as of April 2018) and that there are already a total of 614,309 players registered with the different authorized online operators (577,004 are active players), which ultimately translated into investments in the Health sector.

"The entire online gambling network and the inflow of operators yielded $11 billion in revenue, from July 2017 to April 2018. Derived from Coljuegos exploitation rights alone, more than $6 billion were infused into the Colombian Health system, generating resources that reached over 6000 Colombians through our subsidized Health system," he said.
