The government of Greece is reportedly planning to table a new gambling bill in the upcoming weeks that will see a reduction in taxes –“new tax status”– for gaming tables and slot machines.

According to the Greek news agency Ekathimerini, sources in the counry's Economy Ministry proposals to slash gaming taxes could bring down the tax rate on gross turnover from 30-37 percent to 25 percent “or even lower.”

The report highlights that the government is looking to implement a “mixed system” with authorities confident that “turnover, permits issued and investments will grow” as the new gambling rules will give a boost to the industry.
