After local authorities decided to ban rummy, operators such as Ace2Three, Rummy Circle and Junglee Rummy have approached the Telangana & Andhra High Court to ask for a case review.

he Telangana Gaming Act, 1974 will now be amended and a new definition of ‘cyber space’ would be inserted in the Gaming Act. The reform establish that playing online matka, sports betting, poker and rummy would incur criminal penalties, which could range from a fine to an imprisonment.

Online rummy operators based out of Telangana have since shut their operations entirety while others have stopped accepting players from Telangana, which is one of the biggest markets for the sector.

The rummy operators have asked for interim relief to continue operations until the matter is finally decided by the court.
