The test lab leader is bringing 25 years of experience in the gaming world to Peru Gaming Show 2017. “The main common concern that regulators, operators and suppliers must focus on is to have fair, transparent, random and secure games that can be controlled and inspected,“ GLI representative said.

What do you expect from Peru Gaming Show 2017?

GLI has participated in the Peru Gaming Show for many years, and on this occasion, we will be in stand #22. The main goal for GLI is to not only position itself as the global testing leader in the gaming industry, offering the certification of gaming devices to existing clients and new clients that are interested in different gaming markets, but to also detail and explain all of the other services we offer, such as trainings, consultancy services and field inspections, among others, for regulators, operators and suppliers. Our more than 25 years in the industry, together with our presence in more than 475 jurisdictions, allows us to transmit all this knowledge and experience to the executives that will visit our stand. Our main expectation as a company is to advise our visitors on the different projects that they have for each region around the world, from inception to implementation and completion.

What are Andean regulators, operators and manufacturers most concerned about?

The industry has been evolving and doesn’t stop, so new types of games appear around the world constantly. For example, iGaming, sports betting, skill-based games, fantasy sports, esports, etc. are very popular right now. Regulators, operators and suppliers have their own challenges and concerns facing these new appearances; however, the main common concern that they must focus on is to have fair, transparent, random and secure games that can be controlled and inspected. Regulators must be concerned with establishing or maintaining a regulation according to industry standards with specific technical requirements for their own jurisdiction that allow them to control and inspect the activity. On the other hand, operators must offer their clients modern and safe services that allow them to make their investment profitable. Additionally, suppliers must be proactive regarding the innovation, development and certification of their products, either at the request of a jurisdiction or on their own initiative, to provide a safe game. We encourage regulators, operators and suppliers to visit our Peru Gaming Show stand #22 in order to speak with our experts about the progress of the industry and how we can work together as strategic business partners to help their specific projects be successful.

What are the hot topics in the LatAm gambling industry these days?

2017 has been a very busy year with many activities in different markets of the region. Currently, the main topic of interest is the regulation of internet gaming and sports betting. The regulation of internet gaming, released in Colombia by Coljuegos, is one of the factors that drew attention to the Latin American market from different suppliers and operators from different parts of the world. Also, the Dirección General de Juegos de Casino y Máquinas Tragamonedas of Peru, who established and maintained regulation and control of the activity which has become a model to follow in the region, is working to regulate this activity, demonstrate the professionalism of the market and help investors explore Latin America as a potential market. The GLI Latin American team carries out extensive fieldwork, visiting frequently suppliers, regulators and operators from different countries worldwide, in order to keep us always informed about development in different jurisdictions. Our clients benefit from this knowledge because they will always be at the vanguard on their projects.

In October, GLI will be hosting one of its popular roundtables in Panama. What are you preparing for this event?

This year, we are organizing the 10th Latin American and Caribbean Regulators Roundtable for gaming regulators and state lotteries October 9 and 10 in Panama. For several years, after the success of previous Roundtables, this event is an important date already saved in gaming and lottery regulators’ calendars as they have the unique opportunity to meet and exchange ideas, opinions and experiences with their regional counterparts and inform themselves on how to face the constant and vertiginous advances of the industry. This event, exclusive to gaming regulators and state and government lotteries from Latin America and the Caribbean, offers a series of conferences and discussions about the regulatory activity of the different jurisdictions, new types of games and their implications, anti-money laundering policies and technical aspects that regulators should be aware of. In addition, the conference will feature other topics such as the development of new regulations, responsible gaming programs, internal controls and control measures, etc. that must be considered in their management. As an added value, in addition to scheduled sessions during the conference, attendees will participate in an in-the-field session, where the host regulator, the Panama Gaming Control Board, will demonstrate the mechanisms of control that have been established for the control and verification of monitoring and online control systems and slot machines. GLI is constantly working with gaming regulators to provide them information about the progress of the industry worldwide and offer them the permanent support and assistance from the company's highly qualified personnel. At the end of Roundtable week, on October 11 and 12, the Ibero-American Corporation of Lotteries and State Betting - CIBELAE - will be organizing the XVI Congress of Cibelae in Panama.
