Figures released by regulator Spillemyndigheden show sports betting revenue has declined in the country; whereas online casino operations generated USD 61M with slots being the biggest attraction among Danish players.

T

he decline in sports betting revenue comes after betting stakes remaining almost flat at USD 802M.

Sports betting revenue was mainly via mobile channels, as it accounted half of the market during the first three months that ended on March 31. Desktop bets totaled 25.4 percent of the market, whilst retail wagering comes in third place with 22.5 percent. Despite these results, land-based venues reported 54 percent of individual betting transactions.

Earlier this month it was reported that Danske Spil’s exclusive operations in the online bingo and horse racing sectors could end soon.
