Last week, the European Parliament approved a non- legislative resolution regarding online gambling. Deputies agreed that all member states of the EU required a unified legal framework in order to create a stable and reliable market.

It has been recommended that member states introduce a licensing model that gives security to users and ensures that gambling providers comply with legal requirements.

To protect minors, the institution has suggested to increase access restrictions to online gambling sites with age verification and online payment criteria.

EP also suggestedthe creation of a new legal framework for online operators.

Oline gambling has become a fast-growing market in Europe over the past years. At the moment, 10% of the gambling takes place on the internet, either through mobile phones or interactive platforms and the overall activity has a market volume of over 10 billion euros per year.

However, online gambling regulation is different in each country, while some EU member states have strict restrictions others have very open betting markets.
